Alison Foster is an objects conservator, accredited by the Institute of Conservation, and founder of AFConservation. She has over 20 years of experience working within the museum and heritage, contemporary arts and archaeological sectors, both in the UK and abroad. For the last 15 years she has focused specifically on objects conservation, working with a broad range of materials in remedial, preventive and advisory capacities.
Previous conservation roles have included being the Conservator of Collections for St Albans Museums Service, overseeing the conservation planning for the Queens Diamond Jubilee Galleries at Westminster Abbey, acting as Senior conservator for the Objects conservation studio at Bevaringstenestene, near Bergen, Norway, and being a member of the conservation team at Hirst Conservation, Lincolnshire. She is currently Collections Conservation Manager of the Works of Art collection for the House of Commons.
AFConservation offers a variety of conservation services, from providing condition surveys and specialist advice for the care of your items, to undertaking conservation and restoration work, or developing suitable environments for preserving objects.
AFConservation also provides training to heritage organisations and individuals in conservation-related areas, including object handling and labelling, packing and storage, integrated pest management, and environmental monitoring and control.
